looking for information about living in Charlotte North Carolina.?

We live in California and my husbands job is relocating to Charlotte NC. We know nothing about the area! Can anyone tell me what its like there. What are some good areas. Mooresville, Stanley, Cornelius, Matthews, Midland, Kanapolis, Gastonia. those are just some of the places that I have seen on the map and used Realtor\.com to see what the Homes were like. BUT although they may look nice – what is the area like? Also someone had mentioned that it is expensive there??? I dont understand that – coming from California it looks rather cheap to live there. Is there something I am missing. Any information would be totaly greatful. Thanks

Well I am outside of the Washington DC area and had a job interview in the southern side of Charlotte back in June. Let me tell you- do not move there!!! The humidity in early June was almost unbearable. The layout was also kind of ho-hum. It seemed we would drive for miles and still be in “suburbia”, with lack of definition to the communities. There are no hills, it is very flat and not pretty at all. The homes to me were a little pricey, and thats comparing to DCNorthern VA standards, which rival California. The people seemed really nice though! You may be bored and take a while to adjust……………..
